In this blog, we will tell you the reasons for plucking a wig, the tools you will need, and the process of how to pluck a wig in detail.
What Does It Mean To Pluck A Wig?
Plucking a HD lace wigs is the process of using a tweezer to remove the excess hair around the hairline of a lace-front wig.
If you have observed the hairline of your natural hair, you will find that hair of unequal length always tends to grow around your hairline, which is a sign of natural hair growth. Yet a new wig comes with a hairline that’s straight across, too far forward, or too dense. Some even have the helmet head effect. Therefore, to get a fully realistic hairline look, you have to pluck your wig to get a natural hairline density similar to your natural hair. After that, your wig hairline will be like it has grown naturally from the scalp.
What Do You Use To Pluck A Wig?
Here are some tools you will need during the plucking process: A lace front wig, a wig stand, pins, a rat-tail comb, and tweezers.
Many girls are confused about whether they should pluck on wet or dry hair. Actually, both are OK. Some people prefer wet hair because it's easier to move and control, while other people prefer to pluck on dry hair so they can get a true sense of the hair's density. So it is up to you.
How To Pluck Lace Front Wig?
To help you get a natural and satisfying hairline, we will list the steps in detail in the following.
1. Bleach The Hair Knots
This step is optional. Bleaching the knots is to make them invisible so that the wigs will look more natural. The knots refer to the dots at the base of the cap, where the hair is attached.
Firstly, remove the comb that’s in the center. Then take two scoops of bleach powder, a 30-40 developer according to preference. And apply the developer to the hair delicately to prevent the bleach from sinking into the hair. Leave the bleach on your wig for at least 30 t0 40 minutes, and then shampoo the bleached area of the cap. If you are not sure whether you can bleach it wonderfully, you can ignore the step because over bleaching can cause crazy hair loss.
2. Put Your Wig On a Wig Stand
Take out your loose deep wave wig and put in on the wig stand. To prevent the wig from moving around, remember to insert the pins into the lace in the front of the wig's hairline, usually 8 to 10 pins are enough.
3. Comb Wig And Apply Mousse
Comb your wig gently to remove the tangles. Start at the ends of the hair and move upward toward the roots. Apply 2 palm-fulls of mousse on the hairline and then comb all the hair back. This step will enable you to easily see the hairline of the wig. Then you can tie all the hair into a ponytail to secure the wig.
4. Start To Pluck The Hairline
Use the end of a rat-tail comb to separate a small section of hair. Let the sectioned hair hang freely and continue to secure the rest of the hair. Now you can begin plucking. Hold the tweezers in your dominant hand and turn them so that the shorter side of the tweezers is pointing down. It won’t remove as much hair as the longer side which makes it great for beginners.
During the plucking process, remember to grab the hairs close to the roots without gripping and ripping the lace. You can tweeze the hairs in any direction, but keep gentle. And do not concentrate on any one area for a long time because excess tweezing will lead to bald spots.
5. Go For The Next Layer
Section out some more hair. This time pluck some hair off the sections, which are less thin than the other parts. It creates an ombre effect with the hairline. And the frontals will look more natural.
6. Create Some Baby Hair
After plucking the hairline, you can recreate some baby hair, which will look more natural than the ones that came with the wig. Now you can wear your wig and style it according to your preferences.
Some girls wonder how to pluck a wig without tweezers. If you have no tweezers, you can use your long nails to pluck the hair. You have to be very careful.
