How To Choose The Right Lace Color?
When picking up the perfect hair color, please remember to match the lace with your scalp but your skin tone.
First of all, part your hair and look at the scalp color, then the lace color that matches the scalp skin. If you don’t find the lace color that matches your scalp perfectly, it is better to go lighter lace color than darker lace color. If you are still uncertain, the transparent lace color will be the best choice. We recommend you using HD lace, whose lace color is also transparent. Besides, HD lace is undetectable and blends very well with any skin tone, too.
But if you are a beginner who doesn’t try any human hair wig before, an HD lace wig may not your best option. You must deal with it to prevent it from tearing up as HD lace is very soft and delicate. In addition, compared to lace part wigs and lace front wigs, HD lace wigs are more expensive. Of course, if you have enough budget, you can take it into consideration. After all, HD lace wigs surely can give you the most natural appearance.
How To Make The Lace Color Match Your Scalp Perfectly?
Even though the lace color doesn’t exactly match your skin tone, there are still many methods that you can solve this problem.
How To Darker Lace Color
For example, if you find the lace color is lighter than your skin tone, you can try the following tips to darken the lace color.
Tip 1: Makeup Foundation/Concealer
It is surely a temporary and not durable solution, but there is no doubt that it is the simplest and quickest method to darker the lace color. You only need foundation powder and a brush to correct and adjust your lace color.
Firstly, make sure the hair of the middle part is flat, and then apply a small amount of concealer to your concealer brush and dab it down the middle part. In the process, you could carefully blend the concealer into the lace until the entire middle part has concealer on it. Whatever concealer you usually use will do a great job on the lace. Because the concealer normally should be lighter than your skin tone, just like your own scalp skin.
Secondly, turn the lace part wig upside down to make the inside lace expose. Then use your powder brush to take some foundation/concealer and lightly press them onto your lace to make it blend with your skin complexion. Next, turn the wig back again and continue to apply foundation to the lace until you are satisfied with the lace color.
In the end, you can spray some hair gel to the lace and middle part, which can effectively dissolve the excess powder.
Note: This method is best for short-term lace wig wearers as the makeup foundation will wear off after about 2 to 3 days.
Tip 2: Lace Tint Spary Or Makeup Spray
Do you want to know the secret to a perfect matching lace closure wigs, or frontal? It’s lace tint spray or makeup spray. This highly pigmented spray is perfect to customize and tint your lace to create a flawless look.
If you decide to choose this method, we sincerely recommend you applying the lace tint spray or makeup spray to the wet lace and the back of the lace, and letting it air dry or blow dry completely for a few minutes. To achieve a darker lace color, please apply additional coats several at a time.
Tips 3: Dyeing The Lace
Step 1: Fill a medium bowl with hot water and choose a dye tone that can match your skin tone. Please remember the hot water can help the lace absorb the dye.
Step 2: Mix the dye with the hot water until your desired color is reached.
Step 3: Gently place the lace into the dye and dip the lace into the dye for about ten seconds. Then you need to often check whether the lace color reaches the ideal effect or not. If you want to get a darker lace color, repeat the process until you get the lace color you want. Don’t let the hair soak into the dye. If you are a beginner, it would be better to test a small piece of the excess lace against your forehead in advance. You can carefully monitor how fast the color is absorbing into the lace. Remember, when it comes to lace color, you can always go darker, but you cannot go lighter. Therefore, you had better complete the process gradually so that you can make sure the lace color can’t be too dark.
Step 4: Wash your lace gently and thoroughly with cool water to let the lace color set properly. Of course, you also can use a non-sulfate shampoo and conditioner to rinse the remaining dye out from the hair. After washing and conditioning, you just need to let the lace air dry naturally.
Compared to other methods, the method is relatively more complex, but the effect is permanent.
Tip 4: Black Tea Bag
If you don’t have any dye on your hand, let us teach you a simple way to adjust your lace color. just prepare 10 black tea bags and a plot of hot water in advance, you can easily tint your lace. When you choose black tea, make sure they are 100% black tea with any blended ingredients.
First of all, you need to dip the tea bags in the boiling water for about 5 minutes. After this time, remove the tea bags from the pot, and allow the tea to cook for another 3 minutes. Then turn off the heat and let the water cool for two minutes until it reaches the proper temperature. Hold the end of your wig and dip the lace into the tea water. Just like tip 3, you should check the lace color frequently to get the right color. And The last step is to wash your lace wig with shampoo and conditioner, thus making sure that you wash the lace very thoroughly to get rid of the tea smell.
How To Light Lace
When you find your lace color is darker than your scalp skin or you accidentally drown it for a too long time when you tint the lace, you can learn the following methods that may be helpful for you.
Method 1: Bleach Knots
As we all know, bleaching knots will lighten your lace color. You could pour the bleach into the bowl, and add the cream developer to the bowl. Then mix until the consistency is thick enough so it won’t seep through the lace and bleach the hair. Turn your lace front wigs inside out and gently apply the bleach mixture to the lace to ensure the lace is covered fully with the bleach. Let the bleach sit in for more than 15 minutes then wash it with cool water. If possible, you can use a neutralizing shampoo to stop it from over-processing.
Method 2: Purple Shampoo
The purple shampoo can even out the tone and take away the brassiness of the lace. Therefore, if the lace color is just a little darker than your scalp skin, nothing is better to repair it with purple shampoo.
