There are unconfirmed but solid leads to conclude that Reddit just got a massive hit in a spear phishing attack with an additional Distributed Denial of Service attach (DDOS).
The most 'in-interesting' event of a DDOS attack is the fact that in most cases, the computers of the website's visitors are being compromised and converted to botnets, which are remotely controlled for the intent of sending repeated traffic to a specific website, a simple reason this attack is categorized as a spear phishing + DDOS attack.
There is no word as to the origin of this attack as of now, but the obvious outcome of the Reddit attack this time around is the fact that it is massive... massive enough to have an average of 5 new domains registered TLD with phrases related to: reddit downdetector, reddit status, isitdownrightnow, reddit outage, per hour since 5:32 PM EST.
